Welcome!

Fri 7 Oct 2016
Goodness, it's been a long time since I've written a blog post! If you're a friend of mine (in person or on Facebook) then it's likely you know some of the reasons, but for those of you who aren't, I'll explain a bit at the end of this post. That way, you don't have to read it if you don't want to!

Anyway. Down to business. I've decided that my blog needs a revamp, and that I need some kind of structure to ensure that I don't neglect you in the way that I have done over the past few months. This post is the first of my New, Improved Blog.

From here on, every Saturday I'll be posting a Colour Combination Challenge. You'll be able to take part if you want, and I hope that you will want to join in, but if you just want to look in then that's fine too.

At the top of this post, you can see this week's colour combination. Don't you just love that photograph!! (I wish I could take credit for it, but I found it on a beautiful Facebook page called "Season's Splendor". You can find the page here.)

I've loved playing around with this combination! I've recently started hand-stamping my own business cards, so thought these would be ideal projects to share with you. The format is obviously very small (5.5cm x 8.5cm) but I love how they've turned out.

Now it's your turn! I'd love you to send me photos of your creations using this combination of colours. You can pop them in the comments section bellow, or email your picture to me. I'll choose my favourites, and will share the photos in the following Colour Combination blog post and on the Sunshine Stamping Facebook page, so everyone can be inspired by them.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Tomorrow, I'll share the first of what is going to be another regular feature in my New, Improved Blog: the Sunday Sketch. This one comes combined with a special Buy Three, Get One Free offer, so you won't want to miss it!

*****************************************
A little explanation...

I said earlier that I'd explain a little about why I've been so quiet, for those of you who don't know. I'm not looking for sympathy, but I feel bad that I've neglected my blog for so long, and hope that this will help you to understand why, in case that's something that is important to you.

A few months back, Alan (my husband) experienced a little tightness in his chest. He's a First Aider at his work, so he thought he'd better get himself checked out. Pretty much the next thing we knew, at hospital for an angiogram, he was put on total bed rest - his left coronary artery was almost completely blocked and how he hadn't had a heart attack no one was quite sure! A week later, he underwent double heart bypass surgery at Papworth Hospital. As you can imagine, life was a bit wonky for a while. He was in hospital for less than two weeks - just five days after his operation I drove him home. Honestly, that was the scariest journey of my life; I'd rather have been transporting a dozen priceless Ming vases! It's almost three months down the line now, and Alan is doing amazingly well. He's not back at work yet, but I suspect that won't be too long now. He's certainly frustrated by all the things he still isn't allowed to do, and I keep having to remind him that he's not supposed to pick up anything that weighs more than a bag of sugar. It's not always easy keeping him to the rules.

It goes without saying that I'm hugely relieved and grateful that he's still with us, and that he's doing so well. Unfortunately, though, the inevitable worry and consequent lack of sleep while he was in hospital and during the weeks afterwards had an impact on me. Once Alan started to be more independent, and I stopped running pretty much on adrenaline, I crashed for a while. As you might know, M.E. doesn't take very well to stress, and it kicked back quite strongly. I'm fine again now, still sleeping A LOT, and trying (with varying degrees of sucess) to pace myself. This is one of the reasons for my blog revamp. I work better with a certain amount of structure in my life, and I'm hoping that the introduction of a posting routine will benefit me and, most importantly of course, that it will enable me to give to you the value and inspiration that I want with all my heart to be able to offer. Here goes...!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you enjoy the colour challenge - please do send me pictures of your cards.
