Welcome!

Sat 22 Oct 2016

Wow - what a week! We've been back and forth to Peterborough twice this week (five hour round trip each time) to get some more work done on the house, and it's nearly ready to rent out again. I ache EVERYWHERE, but the garden is now looking more like a garden than a long-forgotten wilderness, so at least my pain is worth it.  All in a good cause, eh?

This week's colour challenge photo really called to me. Parts of the UK have been lucky enough to experience the Northern Lights recently, but we're way too far south. I would so love to see them! Have you ever seen them in real life? (If you have, send me photos and tell me what it was like - I'll be so jealous!). For now, though, I make do with poring over pretty pictures like this one. I found the image via Google, but managed not to jot down the details so I can't give credit. I'll see if I can remedy that...

Sunshine Stamping Colour Challenge 3

Here is my card for this week's challenge. What do you think? For some reason, I actually found this one quite hard. I think I have a tendency to try to include equal amounts of each colour, which I suppose isn't a good idea from a design point of view. One to work on, perhaps.

Sunshine Stamping Colour Challenge 3 Card

I have to be honest and say this doesn't "sing" to me as much as the inspiration photo does, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out in the end. It's a while since I dug out "Kinda Eclectic", and I really do like it. The sunburst, in particular, is just SO useful.

I'd really love to be able to share some of your colour challenge cards too, but I don't have any to post. [*sad face*]. I've had a number of you get in touch to say you're enjoying the new challenges, but none have been brave enough to send me your photos. Please do! I'd love to see what your colour combo cards turn out like - I'm new to doing them too, and it would be great to be able to get some inspiration from you all. You can post your photos in the comments, or send them to me in an email. I'll share my favourites in my blog and on my Facebook page, so everyone can enjoy them.

Thanks for dropping by. I'm off to do my "Totally Trees" class this afternoon, so I'll have those projects to share with you soon, and of course I'll be back tomorrow with this week's Sketch Challenge. Have a great weekend! xx

Hello! How's your week going? Things are great here - Alan is back at work after his heart surgery three months ago, and we're (AT LAST!) almost ready to let out my cottage again after two years. (Grade II Listed. Rising Damp. Horrible. Sorted finally. Don't ask...!)

I hope you'll forgive me for a Christmassy Midweek Make Over this week, but I couldn't resist sharing this one with you. The card I've "made over" is the second one in this blog post - I still love how quick and simple this was! We do still have the "Work of Art" stamp set that I used in the original project, but I love how the tree looks more delicate in this version.  This remake is one of the cards I designed for my September class, and I was horrified to realise that I haven't blogged any of those yet. The rest will follow, but for now, I hope you like this one:

Painter's Palette Christmas Tree

Strictly, this is a "tweak" rather than a "make over", because I haven't followed the original design exactly, but I still really love it. So quick and simple, and SO very effective. It uses just two stamp sets, "Painter's Palette" and "Be Jolly, By Golly" and is perfect if you need to put a big batch of Christmas cards together fast. You could add baubles if you want to, but I rather like the clean and simple look (but you knew that by now, didn't you?). Supplies and colours are listed below, and as usual, you can find everything in my Online Shop.

I'll be back with more soon. Thanks for dropping in! xx

Happy Sunday! I've got another fab sketch challenge for you today, and I'd love to see your makes inspired by this one:

Sunshine Stamping Sketch Challenge 2

This one was great fun to do, and so easy! On Wednesday, I told you that I'd finally cracked open my Floral Boutique DSP, and I couldn't resist using it again for this one. The colours remind me of Delft pottery, and the  checked pattern in the sketch made me think of tiling. (We've been finishing renovating the house we rent out, so tiles were on my mind.) Have you ever seen those pretty blue-and-white tiled fireplaces? Well, that's what was in my mind when I put this card together. I love how it's worked out.

Sunshine Stamping Sketch Challenge 2

Isn't that pretty? The ribbon is a different blue to everything else, but I really like the way it works with the other colours. Stampin' Up! are clever! They really take the work out of putting colours together. And that stitched ribbon ties the most beautiful bows!

I'd love to see your creations using this sketch. Pop a photo in the comments, or drop me an email, and I'll share my favourites so we can all enjoy them.

Thanks for dropping in - I'll be back again soon! xx
