Welcome!

Sat 5 Nov 2016

Happy Guy Fawkes Day everyone!! While you're all out roasting chestnuts and writing your name in the sky with sparklers, I'm in Telford with all my lovely Stampin' Up! team and friends enjoying our On Stage Local convention. Photos to come.... Oh my goodness, are you in for a treat when the new Spring Summer catalogue comes out in the New Year! But in the meantime, I have a fab colour challenge for you. How could I resist a fireworks-based one?

Happy Guy Fawkes Night Colour Combo

The lovely Abbie of Polyspiral, who does my website for me, passed her driving test a few days ago, so I wanted to make her a congratulations card. Fireworks and celebrations go together brilliantly, right? So this card is for her, and I'm hoping against hope that the post has arrived before she sees this. Abbie, you're a superstar, and if your card isn't with you yet (bad Post Office!) then I promise it's on its way!

Sunshine Stamping Colour Challenge 5 Card 1

I just LOVED stamping this one - great fun! I trawled through my stamp sets and found every set I could that had a firework-y, starry stamp in it and just went to town. Random stamping, people - you need to try it! I faffed about for a while trying to find an appropriate sentiment, but everything I considered at first just lacked "oomph" somehow. This die cut sentiment from my beloved Sunshine Wishes thinlits set really is perfect though. I love it, and I just hope Abbie does too.

Here's a different angle, showing the rhinestones, 'cause you can't really see them in the main photo.

And another one:

I'm dying to see some of your cards, so if this colour combination is calling to you, do send me your photos. You can add them to the comments on this post, or email them to me. I'll share my favourites in next week's post, and on my Facebook page, so that everyone can enjoy them. Don't be shy now!

As always, you can see a breakdown of what I've used at the bottom of this post. Click on any of the pictures for more details, and everything is available in my Online Shop. Don't forget to use the Hostess Code if your order is between £20 and £150, so I can send you a free gift.

Thanks for dropping in, and have a fabulous weekend! xx

Wendesday already! I hope your week's going well so far. I'm dosing myself up on Night Nurse and Strepsils at the moment, trying to fend off the flu-y thing that is hanging round. Yes, it's definitely autumn!

This week's project is a remake of a class I designed and ran about six years ago - I can't believe it's taken me so long to get back to it, as I really loved making this. The original blog post is lost in the mists of time on my old blog, but you can see pics of the original project here.

Candy Cane Lane Desk Tidy 1

How much fun is this?! The original project had a set of greetings cards in it, but I've turned it into cute little storage box for pens and stamping blocks using the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! I was feeling a bit Christmassy when I made this, but of course you could swap out the little gingerbread house, or use different DSP and it would be an all-year-rounder.

Candy Cane Lane Desk Tidy 2

The little tray at the front would work for storing sticky notes, or paperclips. How about having one of these by your phone, so you're never without a notepad and pen when you need one?

Candy Cane Lane Desk Tidy 4

And here's a close-up of the pocket at the back. Perfect for pens and rulers, or how about popping envelopes in here? It'll fit a standard C6 size, and will hold a good number.

Candy Cane Lane Desk Tidy 3

The little house is simply cut out of one of the sheets you get in the pack of Candy Cane Lane DSP. My fussy-cutting isn't up to much, but these cute little houses are worth it, and you get loads of them!

Candy Cane Desk Tidy 5

As always, you can get hold of everything you need from my Online Shop, and I've popped links below so you don't have to hunt around. If you'd like the instructions to the original project, just drop me an email and I'd be happy to send them on to you. I haven't updated them for this version, but it's only the decoration that's is different.

Hope you like today's project! Thanks for dropping by. I'm off to make a start on my swaps for this weekend's On Stage event in Telford. I'm a bit behind, so wish me luck! See you soon... xx

Hello! A bit late with this one, I'm afraid - I was at my university reunion dinner last night so it's been a bit of a sleepy day since I got home. Still buzzing from it though - I can't believe it's twenty-nine years since that particular part of my life began! Surely I can't be that old?????

I have a lovely sketch challenge for you today. Nice and simple, but great fun to work with.

Sunshine Stamping Sunday Sketch No 4

And here's my card. It's been too long since I brought the butterflies out to play, but I couldn't resist them for this one.

Sunshine Stamping Sunday Sketch Card No 4

Here's the inside:

Sunday Sketch No 4 Inside

As always, I'd love to see what you come up with using this sketch. Pop your photos in the comments on this post, or you can drop me an email. I'll share my favourites so everyone can enjoy them, so don't be shy now!

Finally, I can't resist sharing some of the photos I took this morning, while I was wandering round college. This place has a very special place in my heart: almost thirty years ago it became home. It still feels like it, and it's still so unbelievably beautiful. My photos don't do it justice, but I hope you enjoy them nevertheless.
