Stampin' Up! "Build A Birthday" card

Tue 25 Apr 2017

Hey there! It's been a while.... I've been poking around and tidying my blog up a bit, and trying to get some other things in order, and somehow it's been AGES since I actually posted anything on here. If you're still out there, thanks for sticking with me - you deserve a medal!

I ran my monthly "Mostly Cards" class on Saturday. The theme this month was birthdays, and we had an absolute ball creating four totally different cards. I love these classes! They're such a great chance to get together for some fun crafting and some good old nattering - and of course cups of tea (thanks Janina!) and maybe the odd choccy biccy or two. I'm always shattered afterwards, but I love love love doing them. If you haven't got out and crafted with others recently, then I really would encourage you to do just that. It's so good for you! And if you're able to get to Kesgrave on the fourth Saturday of the month, why not come and join us? We'd love to see you, and I can promise you you'll have a fabulous time!

The photo shows one of the cards we made, and it uses a brilliant stamp set that, sadly, is retiring at the end of May. It's called "Build A Birthday" and at the time of writing is still available from my Online Shop. I'll pop links at the bottom of the post, in case you want to pop over and bag one for yourself before they sell out. I've been practising my photography - what do you think?

Here's a closer look:

Build A Birthday Card by Becki Ritson

The set is more obviously geared towards creating a tiered birthday (or wedding, I suppose) cake, but I wanted to change it around a bit and use the individual layers as candles instead. I really like the way it works. The background is stamped with some of the other stamps in the set; it always amazes me how much our stamped backgrounds look like proper printed paper. You really can't beat our Whisper White for stamping on.

Pretty much everything on this card is about to retire. The colours are retiring "In Colors", the stamps are leaving us and the Lucky Stars embossing folder is also going. The ever-useful Stitched Shapes framelits are staying though (hooray!!!), as is the Triple Banner punch that I used on the sentiment strip. I'm SO going to miss Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron!!!!!

I'll pop another card from the class up in a couple of days, so do pop back to have a look and let me know what you think. In the meantime, I'll leave you with the links to everything used in this card. Grab them while you still can...

Thanks for dropping in. xx
